Κανείς δεν γνωρίζει με βεβαιότητα πότε ακριβώς πέθανε η
. Ίσως να κρύφτηκε για καιρό στα βάθη των καλαμιών, ίσως να απομονώθηκε στις όχθες κάποιας ξεχασμένης λίμνης. Το σίγουρο είναι ότι πέθανε μόνη. Μακριά από το ανθρώπινο βλέμμα, μα και από το ενδιαφέρον του ανθρώπου.
Σήμερα, καθώς κοιτάμε τις άδειες εκτάσεις που κάποτε αποτελούσαν το βασίλειό της, δεν μπορούμε παρά να αναρωτηθούμε: Μπορεί άραγε ο άνθρωπος να μάθει από τα λάθη του; Μπορεί η τελευταία τίγρης της Κασπίας να είναι και η τελευταία που χάνουμε πριν πάρουμε τη σωστή κατεύθυνση;
